Spirits Never Dampened Despite Rainy Manchester Halloween
Hundreds of costumed candy-seekers braved wind and rain during Manchester's traditional trick or treat celebration on Halloween. Running from 5pm to 7pm, local children as well as children from neighboring communities, swarmed the village, collecting candy from homes and businesses. Although there was speculation that it would be a light year for trick-or-treaters, Main Street proprietors reported serving more than 300 ghoulish customers, some places running out of treats well-shy of the 7pm cut-off.
Temperatures stayed in the low 60s, the rain was constant and the winds were strong at times. Despite the weather, volunteers from many local organizations stayed dry on the porch of the mill, dipping and distributing hundreds of carmel apples to excited trick-or-treaters.
