Middle School PTSA Hosts Valentine Fun Night
The Middle School’s Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) hosted a fun night for all middle school students on Friday night. This is the 8th year that the PTSA has held such an event.
In years past, the PTSA hosted a dance for the 7th and 8th graders, and a fun night for the 5th and 6th graders. They found, however, the interest in the dances waned over time. A decision was made to host a fun night for both sets of students and participation boomed. On Friday, there were an estimated ninety 5th and 6th graders and sixty-five 7th and 8th graders at the fun night.
Each student was charged $4.00 at the door as an entry fee and concessions were available for purchase. In all, the evening raised $900 for the PTSA. All funds are returned to the students in the form of direct support for field trips, quiz bowl, and other enrichment activities.
Along the way there have been many different themes and games as the PTSA now hosts four fun nights per school year. About 12-15 parent volunteers supervised the students enjoying music, bingo, Valentine crafts, snacks, with the highlight of the evening being dodgeball.
The PTSA meets the first Tuesday of every month from 5:30-6:30 in the Middle School media center. For more information, contact their PTSA board at mmsptsa@gmail.com.
