Trinity Health Michigan recently announced that Chelsea Hospital has been recognized as the “World’s Best Hospitals 2026” by Newsweek, ranking 87th in the country. Of the 11 other Michigan hospitals that made the list, only the University of Michigan Health — Ann Arbor scored higher.

“Earning a place on the World’s Best Hospitals 2026 list is an extraordinary honor, especially for a hospital like ours that is rooted in a small, close-knit community,” said Ben Miles, president of Chelsea Hospital. “While we take great pride in being a community hospital, this distinction shows that we have the resources and capabilities to deliver truly world-class health care."

Trinity Health Michigan, which operates Chelsea Hospital along with the University of Michigan, explained that the “World’s Best Hospitals 2026” list, developed by Newsweek and Statista Inc., included 2,530 hospitals in 32 countries; and that the list is based on four data sources: hospital quality metrics, recommendations from medical experts (doctors, hospital managers, and healthcare professionals), results from patient surveys, and Statista Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) Implementation Survey.

Congratulations, Chelsea Hospital!
