Manchester Community Tourism Workshop Scheduled for Wednesday
The Ypsilanti Area Convention & Visitors Bureau announced a new Tourism Grant Program, the Community Tourism Action Plan (CTAP). This Plan offers communities in Washtenaw County the opportunity to apply for a grant up to $10,000 specifically for a tourism marketing and development project. The Manchester Downtown Development Authority is pursuing this grant for Manchester, with support from the Manchester Village Council. Each has committed $1,000 as local matching funds.
The CTAP Program will assist in developing a new product or enhancing an existing tourism asset in Manchester. CTAP programs have been implemented across the U.S. from North Carolina, the Midwest, California and the Pacific Northwest through their convention & visitors bureaus over the past 15 years. The intent is to encourage visitation at the local community level through cooperative destination marketing and new/enhanced visitor experience efforts. Discussions and results typically center on community tourism assessment, brand development and priority visitor marketing/development programming.
Key Manchester community leaders have have been invited to a 2 ½ hour workshop led by CTAP Program Consultant Don Anderson and Mary Zucchero from the Ypsi CVB. This Worship will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2014 from 3:00 – 5:30pm at Manchester Village Hall, 912 City Road in the Village Room.
