Book Discussion Group Invites Students to March 26th Meeting
Among the many groups which meet regularly at Manchester District Library is an adult book discussion group. The open group meets monthly for most of the year and discusses a new book at each meeting. Titles for the year are chosen by the group during the summer; each year the group includes a young adult title in their reading.
Based on the popularity of Suzanne Collins’ young adult trilogy, members chose The Hunger Games for their March 2014 read. This book has been wildly popular and controversial. Set in the dystopian future of North America, Katniss Everdeen’s character is an alternative teenage heroine. She challenges the norms of her society and willingly confronts certain death to save the life and innocence of her younger sister.
The MDL Book Discussion group would like to invite students to their March meeting. This is a great opportunity to discuss the themes of the story, share your thoughts, and listen to what others culled from the book. If you know a student who enjoyed The Hunger Games, please share this invitation with them. The discussion will be held Wednesday, March 26 from 7-8 pm in the Village Room. Refreshments will be provided. Copies of The Hunger Games are still available for check out.
