On April 23, the Chemistry Department at the University of Michigan will present the 2014 American Chemical Society Inorganic Chemistry Award. Each year the award is presented to only one student at U of M, a student “who has shown considerable interest in the field of Inorganic chemistry and has demonstrated this through coursework, research, motivation and dedication.”

This year year it will be awarded to Taylor Evans, senior at the University of Michigan and 2010 graduate of Manchester High School. Taylor was nominated by Professor Bart Bartlett for his overall excellence in the study and field of inorganic chemistry.

Taylor discovered his interest in chemistry his sophomore year at MHS in Brad Gerbe’s chemistry class. Currently Taylor’s focus is on solar water splitting via inorganic metal catalysts. After he graduates with a major in chemistry, he will be headed to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He hopes in the future to work on CO2 reduction.

Congratulations Taylor!
