OTHER INFORMATION FROM THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE

With the onset of the outdoor season pedestrian traffic is on the rise. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind pedestrians that many drivers today are more distracted than ever before and proper use of the roadway will assist us in keeping them safe. Please remember that a pedestrian is required to use the sidewalk when a sidewalk is available and may not be in the travel portion of the roadway. Also be sure to use crosswalks when crossing the street to utilize the sidewalk. Where there is no sidewalk pedestrians should travel facing the flow of traffic. Off the roadway is out of harm’s way.
