Street Festival Music Line-Up Annouced
What do an award winning country musician a two time Detroit blues champ and a Jazz guitarist that has toured the country all have in common? They will all be in Manchester August 2nd to perform at the Manchester Street Festival. In only its second year the Street Festival committee had nailed down some top notch entertainment to perform at the Gazebo and on Adrian Street at the “Mill Porch Stage”.
At the Gazebo, music will be on stage from 9:30 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon. San, Emily and Jacob will be performing first, then local favorite Cajun musicians Sel de Terre, followed by Manchester’s’ Cultural Arts Strings. The final performer at the Gazebo will be Abigail Stauffer. Abigail plays regularly around Ann Arbor and can often be heard on weekend music shows the Acoustic Brunch and Tree Town Sounds on 107.1 WQKL. It was her strong fan base in Manchester that asked the Festival committee to approach Abigail to come play.
Gary Allen kicks off the day at 10:30 on the “Mill Porch Stage” playing jazz guitar. Gary has toured the country playing with many Jazz greats including the Les Elgart Orchestra. The Music continues with the Ebb tide Trio at 12:00 and Rochelle Clark at 1:30. Both are local musicians that can be heard playing coffee houses and festival in the Ann Arbor area and around the state. Kelsey Rottiers takes the stage at 3:00 with her uplifting, sometimes heartbreaking, always fresh and real, all-original music
At 4:30 local Blues luminaries Shari Kane and Dave Steele hit the stage. Each accomplished blues musician in their own rights, Shari and Dave together are an incredible acoustic blues Duo. Shari and Dave’s’ music has been described as “street swing and stomp blues,” – like a testament to sounds once heard on the streets of Harlem, the juke joints of Mississippi, or from the jug bands of Memphis. This is an act you don’t want to miss!
At 6:00 John Latini will be fronting his band, The Flying Latini Brothers and this summer, the quartet will be joined by an extension of the group that includes a horn section called The Liars. Latini, another local favorite, maintains a respectable regional and national touring schedule playing at performing arts centers. John Latini personifies the best that the heartland, and especially Michigan’s righteous rock history, have to offer: an honest, straight-ahead, no-nonsense commitment to real songs about real people.
Wrapping up the evening at 7:30 will be Julianne Ankley and the Rogues. A sultry voice that captivates from the first note, Julianne Ankley’s sound is described as country music that flew over the Motor City. She travels to Nashville often, hosting and performing on the Hard Rock Cafe Stages during CMA Fest and performing at various songwriter venues including the Bluebird Cafe, the Listening Room Cafe, Fillin’ Station, Tootsies, 3rd & Lindsley, and Ri’chard’s Louisiana Café. Julianne was a 2014 International Independent Music Award nominee and has won of multiple Detroit music Awards including Outstanding Country Artist/Group. Whether hosting the Hard Rock Café stage at the Country Music Festival in Nashville, performing at Detroit’s Downtown Hoedown, or playing a concert in someone’s home Julianne Ankley always puts on a dynamite show.
One change this year from last to note, this year in an effort to accommodate some of the larger bands and create a better experience for listeners the music will be moving off the Mill Porch and down to the end of Adrian Street under a tent.
