Austin Road MAY Be Open By Wednesday
Austin Road east of the library and M-52 has been closed for construction since Sepetember 22nd (as reported previously by The Mirror). The road is closed from M-52 all the way to Clinton Road, and has made morning commutes, as well as general travel, difficult for the Manchester Area. It was the hope of the Washtenaw County Road Commission to have work completed by Halloween, but weather and other complications have pushed work back.
The WCRC now expects to complete work at Site 5 sometime “in the middle” of this week. Brent Schlack, a WCRC spokesperson said, “We have run into many delays with this last location, but we are hoping to have everything wrapped up by the middle of [this] week.”
The project has focused on numerous safety improvements, especially dealing with culverts, guardrails and other issues related to the way the River Raisin interacts with the road bed.
