Crazy Cash, as always, will be held the first Saturday in March – this year March 7. But new this year is the starting time, Crazy Cash will open its doors at 5:00pm, a full hour earlier than at past events. It will be held at the Legacy Realty Building (formerly known as the American Legion Hall). This is the 16th annual Crazy Cash Raffle.

The tickets are $100 for two people, which includes 2 catered (upscale) dinners with desserts. The event is BYOB. Purchasing a ticket enters you to win many cash prizes and the ultimate prize of $5,000. Also, if you buy before January 1, 2015, you will get a $50 voucher that is good for purchasing chances on side prizes and cash raffles. These extra prizes and raffles range from $5.00 per chance to $20.00. This years side board prizes include: two iPads; three $500 Gift Cards to Cabelas, two flat screen HD Televisions, and two gas grills with accessories and steak packages.

Crazy Cash is a reverse raffle. The last number called (for the $5,000 prize and side board prizes) wins the prize. The raffle is based on 200 tickets – with 197 sold prior to the event and the remaining three numbers auctioned off during the event. Over $12,000 in cash prizes are paid out during the evening in addition to all the merchandise prizes. There are many other mini-raffles throughout the event including 50/25/25 games, silent auctions and special prizes.

The Master of Ceremonies is Pat Vailliencourt with the Dana Andrews as the co-MC pulling the numbers.

This years monies will be going to the following groups: Manchester Lions Club, MHS After Prom Event, Manchester Senior Citizens, Shop with a Cop, Manchester Co-op Preschool, Manchester CRC, Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Manchester Equestrian Team and Scholarships for Key Club members. All recipients agree to sell tickets for the event and to provide volunteers to work at the Crazy Cash night. It takes 65 to 75 volunteers to make the event successful.

According to organizer Cindy Kenney, “Kiwanis of Manchester began this event in an effort to bring the community together to host a major fundraiser for a variety of needs in the community. The original members were hoping it would last for five years and we are on our 16th year.” Kiwanis has been running the event for 17 years, though it was decided after 9/11 to not host a raffle that year.

The monies raised in the past (approximately $240,000) have gone to support dozens of Manchester programs, projects and causes over the years. Projects for the schools include Playscape at Klager, a piano for the high school, batting cages, books, software, an art kiln, concessions stands, audio/visual equipment, Klager shed, materials for the science department, materials for the greenhouse, dozens of items for the Early Childhood Center and Manchester Co-op. Kiwanis has provided computers and office equipment for the Chamber of Commerce, Community Resource Center and the Library many time over the years. Kiwanis has supported the Manchester Senior Citizens, the Manchester Lions Clubs and many sports teams and the marching band. Kiwanis has supported Manchester Parks and Recreation with money for Kirk Park, Carr Park, the Shared Use Trail and picnic area along the river. Kiwanis has donated to the Village of Manchester for benches and beautification. They have donated to the Fair to pay for repairs and bleachers and other items. They also provide scholarship monies each year for Key Club members. The list goes on and on!

Tickets typically sell out so you should buy early. Tickets are available at the Coffee Mill, Ash Auto, or from any Kiwanis members.
