Women’s All-Chocolate Potluck!

1-30-2015 UPDATE: The potluck location has been moved from the United Methodist Church to Emanuel Church on Main Street. 

The Manchester Ladies Society is hosting the second annual Women’s All-Chocolate Potluck on Saturday, January 31, at 1pm at the Manchester United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The potluck is for all of the women in the community and is FREE. Bring your mother, your daughter, your granddaughter. The Ladies Society asks that you bring a dish to pass with chocolate as an ingredient.

The potluck, which is not a fundraiser or recruitment event, was started last year as a fun thing for Manchester women to get together and do in the miserable dead of winter. The downside, of course, is that it is the middle of winter and last year’s attendance was definitely decreased by the huge snowstorm that hit the afternoon of the potluck. Hopefully this year the weather will be more co-operative.

“I enjoy the Chocolate pot luck because it is nice to have a opportunity to reconnect with new and old friends, without the kids, during these long winter months. It is a very relaxed atmosphere with a lot of new and delicious food. For example last year I made chocolate chicken enchiladas,” stated Michelle Gregory, Manchester Ladies Society secretary. In addition to the chocolate fountain and fresh fruit for dipping, last year there were more than 20 different chocolate dishes covering the tables and they included savory as well as sweet foods. Ladies Society member Theresa Heron explained why she enjoys the potluck, “I like the chocolate potluck because it’s all about making fun recipes for each other to try. I cook for my family all week long- this event, the cooking is for my friends, and for me. And dark chocolate can be healthy, right? Please don’t tell me if I’m wrong!”

The Manchester Ladies Society is a non-profit women’s organization that meets one Saturday a month. Their next meeting is Jan. 17, at 1pm in the lower conference room under the library. If you have any questions about MLS or the potluck, email manchesterladiessociety@gmail.com.
