There are just three more weeks left in the Manchester Gazebo Concert series!

This Thursday night at 7:30 pm in Wurster Park, don’t miss “Nessa,” an exciting ensemble led by flutist/vocalist Kelly McDermott, featuring top talent from Southeastern Michigan.

Noted for its “Ancient Song Discovery Project,” the group will perform a dynamic array of newly-arranged ancient Celtic ballads, and World Chamber Fusion with a couple of choice modern covers thrown in for good measure.

Stage performers include McDermott on flute, vocals and keyboards; Rob Crozier on bass and percussion; Alex Anest on guitar, bass, and lap steel; Will Osler on drums, percussion, and vocals; Colleen Shanks on Uilleann pipes and whistles; and a familiar face at many past gazebo concerts–David Mosher–contributing his talents on vocals, guitar, mandolin, and fiddle.

After completing a German tour in early 2014, the group captured the attention of several Detroit-area presenters. Notably, Nessa was recently featured on radio host Rob Reinhardt’s “Essential Music” program on WDET Detroit, which led to immediate bookings at the esteemed “Midtown Detroit Thursday Night Concert Series” and “Arts, Beats, and Eats” in Royal Oak. In addition, “Beautiful Woman” (an original composition by McDermott) was featured on a Philadelphia radio station.

The band is fresh from appearances last week at the Celtic Festival in Saline and the Burns Park Summer Concert Series in Ann Arbor.

The concert is not the only thing going on in Manchester on Thursday. Beginning at 4pm earlier that afternoon and running until 7 pm is the Fairy Festival at the farmers market in Chi Bro Park. Also happening in Wurster Park that evening (but just across the street from the gazebo), is the St. Mary Ice Cream Social with food and fun for the entire family, running from 5-8pm. So there is much to enjoy in Manchester this Thursday!
