Bridge work has been delayed briefly, but an accelerated schedule will start this week.

Work on the Main Street Bridge has been ongoing since its closure in early August but residents and businesses in the downtown area may notice increased activity in the coming week.

At Monday night’s meeting, Village Manager Jeff Wallace informed the council that the Anlaan Corporation, sub-contractors that are doing the micropile work, have experienced some delays in their work. Micropiles are the deep foundation elements upon which the bridge ultimately will be constructed. Due to the delays, Wallace requested that Council temporarily override the village’s noise ordinance to allow 24-hour work on the micropilings, starting today and lasting at least until the next Village Council meeting on October 19. Crews will work a 10-hour shift on Sunday.

This schedule will also depend upon Anlaan being able to pull together a crew to work the late shift, Wallace noted.

Council voted unanimously to allow the override to the noise ordinance in order to help the contractor catch up from the delays and continue the project on schedule.
