Klager Elementary 2015 Fun Run
The Klager Elementary PTO held it's 5th annual fundraising and pro-health Fun Run last week. This year was the first year that all Klager students ran together and on the big track, as opposed to a make-shift small track on the grass by grades through-out the day. This new set-up was suggested by a teacher and allowed families of multiple children at the school to only have to come cheer once as opposed to driving to the school multiple times throughout the day to cheer on children in different grades. It was also much less work for the over 25 volunteers who came out to help. The kids warmed up to a song and then ran, walked, skipped and jumped for the next 25 minutes.
Event organizer Kathy Austin reported that the PTO is still collecting donations through October 21 so they don't have a finale number yet but currently they are at 69% of their overall school goal of $13,500. This is the first year that Klager is a 501(c)(3) non-profit so donations are tax-deductible. If anyone would like to donate, they can contact the PTO at klagerpto@gmail.com or drop off donations at the school. Funds go right back to the students in various forms. The biggest part of the money raised goes towards a field trip for every student each year and teacher wish lists - money that is used to supplement the classroom.
