Parade Canceled, but Christmas In The Village is Still Set for Dec. 5th
A representative of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Denise Collins, announced last week that the Christmas in the Village lighted Friday night parade planned for Friday, December the 4th has been canceled. Collins stated that the parade was canceled in part due to safety concerns with the bridge construction and resulting detour, but that they will be bringing it back next year.
Although the parade is cancelled for this year, craft shows will be going on as scheduled on Saturday Dec. 5. Collins relayed that Steelegrafix will be doing the flyers for the craft shows and will be contacting groups and businesses soon. If anyone would like to have their venue in the flyer please contact Steelegrafix at 428-9680.
The cancellation of the Christmas in the Village parade is the 3rd major Manchester event to be called off in 2015. This summer saw the cancellation of the Men’s Club’s Ribs and Blues Fest in May and the Street Festival and Run Manchester in August. Like the Christmas in the Village parade, organizers of the other two events also are planning their returns in 2016.
