Lilly Diuble’s fundraising efforts are continuing at the second annual Oktoberfest to support the Foundation Fighting Blindness

Lilly Diuble and her family have gotten past Oz; they have clicked their ruby slippers, grabbed Toto, and are ready to host a “whirlwind” good time at their second annual Oktoberfest to benefit the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) on November 21!

The family invites you to join them for fun and festivities to benefit a great cause. Proceeds from this event will benefit Lilly’s Friends, a team that has already raised more than $100,000 for the FFB. The FFB is a national nonprofit and the world’s leading private source for retinal disease research funding. FFB is committed to driving research until the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases is eradicated!

Lilly Diuble established a team for her very first VisionWalk in 2010 when she was just seven years old. Each year since, Lilly, along with her family and friends raise money for FFB because they believe the money raised to fund research will one day lead to a cure for Usher Syndrome, Lilly’s blinding eye disease.

“The outpouring of love and support for Lilly and her fundraising efforts has been amazing,” said Lilly’s mom, Angie Diuble, “and for that we truly feel blessed!”

In June, the Diuble family went through an experience that heightened their passion for helping the vision impaired find a CURE! When a tornado struck the Manchester area on June 22,2015, the Diubles’ home was one of those damaged. While they walked away from the traumatic experience with only damage to their home and possessions, this made an incredible impact on them. Seeing how difficult life could be for those with a vision and/or hearing loss during an emergency like a tornado, led to many conversations about the “what ifs”–leading to a determination to help those with vision and hearing loss to be able to function and survive such experiences.

So come on out; Twist and Shout to awesome music by “Eclipse” starting at 6:30 p.m. on November 21 at the Union hall, 7920 Jackson Road in Ann Arbor. In addition to music, dancing, and great German food, the event will also feature a silent auction, raffles, and just plain fun.

Please call Angela Diuble at (734) 649-8543 with any questions or pledge your contribution by emailing lillysfriendsffb@gmail.com.
