Do you have a favorite stretch of a paved county road here in the Manchester area? Now you and your organization can adopt it!

The Washtenaw County Road Commission has announced the 2016 Adopt-A-County-Road Program and put out a call for volunteers to help keep Washtenaw County’s roadsides attractive for residents and visitors. Organizations who adopt a road must agree to participate in 3 clean-up weekends: April 16 & 17, 2016, July 16 & 17, 2016 and September 24 & 25, 2016. Any organization, company, or group with seven or more volunteers may participate. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Organizations will get to choose at least a two-mile section of roadway (paved, county primary roads only) that they would like to see kept clean and adopt it. In addition to the pride of helping the community, two road signs will be installed on the adopted road publicizing the organization’s name. The Road Commission will also provide a one-time supply of bags and orange safety vests.
