Here’s just a sampling of the many new titles added to the Library’s collection in the month of June.

BOOKS:

Pumpkinflowers: A Soldier’s Story by Matti Friedman: Award-winning writer Friedman re-creates the harrowing experience of a band of young Israeli soldiers charged with holding a remote outpost, a task that would change them forever, wound the country in ways large and small, and foreshadow the unwinnable conflicts the United States would soon confront in Afghanistan, Iraq, and elsewhere.

Almost Infamous: A Supervillain Novel by Matt Carter: Eighteen-year- old Aidan Salt has powerful telekinetic abilities, so he decides to become the first supervillain the world has seen in more than 20 years: Apex Strike. It is seemingly everything he ever dreamed of … at least until he sees what truly hides behind the cape-and- mask lifestyle.

Downsizing the Family Home by Marni Jameson: Nationally syndicated columnist Jameson takes readers through the difficult and emotional journey of downsizing their homes or their parents’ homes. Along the way, Jameson also shares her own hands-on wisdom, heartwarming guidance, and the insightful advice she learned from countless experts.

All Summer Long by Dorothea Benton Frank: Set in New York City and Charleston, South Carolina, this is a story of how plans evolve and lives change in unexpected ways, how even those who have everything are still looking for something more. Even the most successful people can often struggle to keep things together. This novel asks the ultimate questions: Can money buy happiness?

Morgue: A Life in Death by Dr. Vincent Di Maio: In this clear-eyed, gritty, and enthralling narrative, Dr. Vincent Di Maio and veteran crime writer Ron Franscell take readers behind the morgue doors to tell a fascinating life story through the cases that have made Di Maio famous—from the exhumation of assassin Lee Harvey Oswald to the complex issues in the shooting of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

Lost Among the Living by Simone St. James: England, 1921. Three years after her husband, Alex, disappeared, shot down over Germany, Jo Manders still mourns his loss. Working as a paid companion to Alex’s wealthy, condescending aunt, Dottie Forsyth, Jo travels to the family’s estate in the Sussex countryside. But there is much she never knew about her husband’s origins … and the revelation of a mysterious death in the Forsyths’ past is just the beginning … until a familiar stranger arrives.
