In February, Freedom Township began looking at its “green infrastructure,” what they have lost and what they have still to protect. Read more about that here.

Residents, government officials and non-profit groups worked with the Huron River watershed council to create a green infrastructure map that was presented at a Freedom Township board meeting this spring. At their June board meeting, Freedom township officials voted to move ahead with the next step of the process.

The board authorized the Huron River Watershed Council to create recommendations of changes to the master plan and ordinances that would ultimately help shape where and how development occurs, without limiting it, and increase protection of the watershed and green spaces, at no cost to Freedom Township.
