Manchester-Community-schoolsOn Saturday, September 17, about 35 community members, school board members and candidates, school staff, students, and alumni gathered at the Ackerson administrative building for a day-long session to come up with a strategic plan for the Manchester Community Schools district.

Jay Bennett, from the Michigan Association of School Boards, was facilitator for the day. He collected information from the participants and this will be used to develop the exact wording for the district’s future goals.

According to Superintendent Cherie Vannatter, “(During the day’s session) we developed a vision, mission, and goals. The administrators and I will now use those components to create short-term objectives and strategies for those goals.”

Vannatter added that many of the district’s needs were discussed and then prioritized.

The district admin team will be meeting with Bennett on October 19 to finish the plan, with the entire body of work presented to the board by Bennett at its November meeting.
