hungerwise_logoDo you often think about calories, fat grams or food “values?” Do you avoid certain foods, only to overeat those very foods at a later time? Do you distrust your body and its cues? The Hungerwise Program is designed to help undo the diet “brainwashing” that sabotages your efforts toward long–term change. Hungerwise will help you learn to recognize your body’s unique needs, get unstuck from old patterns, and let go of food and weight obsession.

Hungerwise is a 9-week program which will meet at the Manchester Wellness Center from 10:30-noon once a week from May 3rd – June 28th. Each week, small groups meet to discuss one of the Hungerwise steps in the workbook; troubleshoot, and offer each other support and encouragement. Trained clinical staff leads each group, guiding you through the steps. In addition to weekly group meetings, there is an optional group email list for more in-the-moment support as you make changes.

There is a $360 fee to the Hungerwise program but full scholarships are available. Prescreening is required. For information on the pre-screening, scholarships, or the Hungerwise program call 734-593-5251. To register, call 734-593-5280 or visit stjoeschelsea.org/BehavioralHealthServices HERE.

Hungerwise is based on extensive clinical experience and the most up to date science about nutrition and weight. The goals of the program are to help people find a healthy, stable relationship with food, weight and movement, and put an end to obsessive thinking about their body.
