Library makes digital archive of The Manchester Enterprise available online

In conjunction with the Sesquicentennial of the Village of Manchester, the Manchester District Library has begun digitizing its historic collection to provide broader and more convenient access to the history of our community. Tamara Denby, Manchester District Library History Room Volunteer; Char Major, Emanuel Church History Committee Member; and Fritz Swanson, Secretary of the Manchester District Library Board of Trustees, have all begun this work.

The microfilm collection of The Manchester Enterprise is the first collection ready for access. The Enterprise had already been digitized and stored on 99 CD-Roms more than a decade ago. The Digitization Committee transferred and organized those files on web server space donated by the manchester mirror. The image quality of these files is variable, due to the low quality of the underlying microfilm.

As more parts of the MDL historical collection become available online, we will announce those additions here in the manchester mirror.
