WCSO Media Summary

On Nov. 22, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office published a media report regarding a Suspicious Incident which occurred in the 20000 block of Dutch Drive, in the village of Manchester on Sunday, November 19. A photograph of a firearm including the hashtag, #backtoschool was posted to social media. After being notified of the posting, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation and identified the person responsible for posting the image. Searches were conducted of a local residence, Manchester High School, and Klager Elementary School as a safety precaution with assistance from the Michigan State Police K9 Unit.

After verifying the origin of the image and circumstances surrounding the posting, no criminal charges are being sought at this time although further investigation remains under way.
