Have you ever wondered about the large industrial-looking building on Pleasant Lake Road just west of Freedom Township hall and Fredonia Grocery? It is the Consumers Energy Freedom pumping station and if you have ever wanted to get a closer look, now is your chance. Consumers Energy, which will be participating in the Safety Planning Seminar on August 25th at the Freedom Township Hall from 11 am to 2 pm, will now be offering a tour of the pumping station to participants at the end of the event.

At the planning seminar, safety committee member Matt Little will present a detailed plan of action for the township to better prepare for possible challenges and emergencies that might occur in Freedom Township and the surrounding area. David Halteman, Director of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Preparation and Homeland Security team, Manchester Township Fire Department representatives, and State Representative Donna Lasinski will also be in attendance. The Planning Seminar is free, open to everyone (not just Freedom Township residents) and includes a complimentary lunch.
