Wurster Park walkers took a quick time out from walking to sing carols to the breakfast crowd at Kellie’s restaurant on Adrian Street.

“Rudolph” (AKA Mrs. O’Mara) headed up the Reindeer Run on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

A large group of “reindeer runners” (and a few elves) enjoyed a brisk walk to school on Dec. 19. A record-setting 30+ walkers to Riverside Intermediate School, including members of the administration and staff, participated!

Riverside walker Abi also was among the first to celebrate her 40th walk to school day on Dec. 17. Abi has joined the group at Wurster Park each day since Walk to School started on Sept. 10.

Klager Kid Allison reached her 40th day of walking on Monday, Dec. 17. Allison has walked each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday since Walk to School days began on Sept. 10.

The Walk to School program celebrated a few milestones during the final week of school before Holiday Break, with several students getting prizes for completing 40 walks to school!

A total of 42 days to date have been logged walking to school, and two students have participated every single day, with many more missing only one or two dates this school year. Congratulations to Abi and Allison, who have walked each of the 42 days so far–keep up the good work!

On Wednesday, Dec. 19, the annual “Reindeer Run” included a surprise visit from Rudolph, Christmas Caroling to the Kellie’s restaurant breakfast crowd, prizes for all, and an inflatable reindeer waiting for the kids at Klager Elementary School. A record-setting 30+ participants to Riverside Intermediate School rounded out the excitement.

Moooving Mondays, Walk to School Wednesdays, and Fabulous Footloose Fridays will start again on January 7. Meeting times and places are 7:30 am at Wurster Park and 7:45 am at Chi-Bro Park.
