Obituary: Jerry Lee Service
Jerry Lee Service of Manchester passed away Friday, July 19, 2019. He was born August 18, 1948, the oldest child of Robert and Virginia (Wellhoff) Service. Jerry graduated from Manchester High School in 1967 and then attended National Meat Cutting School in Toledo, OH. He returned home and worked with his father at the family business and then continued to run the business by himself for over twenty years, after his father passed away in 1983.
In addition to being known for the business, people knew Jerry for the show cars he took to car shows throughout the United States. Especially his 1968 Dodge Charger 500, which was his pride and joy. He will be greatly missed by his car show friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one sister, Jan Graves of Tecumseh and one brother, Rodney Service of Adrian.
Family and friends will gather from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Borek-Jennings Funeral Home in Manchester. Jerry’s funeral will be held at 11:00AM, with gathering to begin at 10:00AM on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Borek Jennings Funeral Homes: Manchester Chapel (207 E. Duncan St. Manchester, MI). Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park in Tecumseh. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Jerry’s name to the National Wildlife Federation or the National Audubon Society.
