PUBLIC NOTICE OF SHARON TOWNSHIP CODIFICATION 

AND AMENDMENT OF TOWNSHIP ORDINANCES  

Township of Sharon, Washtenaw County, Michigan

Notice is hereby given that on Thursday, September 5, 2019, after a public hearing, the Sharon Township Board of Trustees adopted the codification of all Township Ordinances and the amendment of certain existing ordinances as described below

The ordinances of Sharon Township shall be known as the Code of Ordinances of the Township of Sharon, Michigan and have been compiled and reorganized to include all Township Ordinances and all amendments and revisions up to the date of the public hearing. The Township Ordinances remain unchanged, except for correction of typographical errors and rearrangement, except the amendments as summarized below:

Article 1.

Section 1.1 designates the codified ordinances as the “Code of Ordinances of the Township of Sharon.”

Section 1.2 adds definitions of words used throughout the Code of Ordinances.

Sections 1.3 – 1.5 describe the rules of construction and future legislation.

Section 3.7 b (4) and (5) have been amended to further define the penalties and costs for a civil infraction.

Section 1.9 has amended the Fire Ordinance to change the misdemeanor to a municipal civil infraction with the applicable penalties for a municipal civil infraction.

Section 2.3 has amended the Trespass Ordinance to change the misdemeanor to a municipal civil infraction with the applicable penalties for a municipal civil infraction.

Section 3.10 3 has amended the Dumping Ordinance to change the misdemeanor to a municipal civil infraction with the applicable penalties for a municipal civil infraction.

Section 4.8 3 has amended the Nuisance Ordinance to change the misdemeanor to a municipal civil infraction with the applicable penalties for a municipal civil infraction.

Article 2.

Section 2.13 a. has amended the Mineral Extraction Ordinance to change the misdemeanor to a municipal civil infraction with the applicable penalties for a municipal civil infraction.

Section 6.36 has amended the penalties and enforcement of the Oil and Gas Ancillary Activities Ordinance.

The Amended Ordinances shall become effective 30 days after publication. Until that time, the ordinances prior to amendment shall be in effect.

Copies of the complete text and true copy of the Code of Ordinances and amendments can be reviewed at the office of the Sharon Township Clerk on Thursdays between 9:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. at Sharon Township Hall, at the address stated above. The complete text of the Codes of Ordinances and all amendments will also be posted on the Sharon Township website – www.sharontownship.org
