Time to register for Christmas in the Village parade and contests!
Christmas in the Village will once again include many contests this year!
The third Annual resident outdoor decorating contest will have two categories, "Most Christmas Spirit" and "Most Manchester Spirit." The deadline to enter is this Friday, November 22. Judging will take place Thursday, December 5th from 6:30 to 9 pm. Winners will be announced the next evening during the tree-lighting ceremony in the Gazebo in Wurster Park.
This year Christmas in the Village will again feature a lighted parade Friday, December 6th starting at 6:30 pm. The theme of the parade and of the event overall is "Twelve Days of Christmas." Parade participants may choose to enter the float contest or not, but need to register in either case. The deadline to register to be in the parade is Wednesday, November 22nd. Line up will take place at the American Legion, 203 Adrian Street at 5:45 pm for judging or 6 pm for participants not entering the contest. Categories for the parade contest include best Twelve Days of Christmas-themed float, most lights, and most Manchester-spirited float. Rules for all parade participants include: all floats must be lighted, no Santas allowed, no candy thrown, at least one adult per float, animal entries are required to provide their own "pooper scoops," and no stopping on the parade route - performances must take place while moving.
Organizers are planning a cookie contest for Saturday, December 7. Cookies should be dropped off at the Shoppes of Alber Mill, 201 East Main Street, between 9 am and 1 pm. They will be judged by Santa at 1:30 pm. The winner will receive a trophy & bragging rights. Contestants must provide recipe and bring at least 2 dozen. Leftover cookies will be sold after judging at $3 for half dozen assorted and $5 for a dozen assorted. Proceeds from the sale will go to the Chamber of Commerce. The deadline to enter the cookie contest is Wednesday, December 4th.
