Letter to the Editor

Feb 20, 2020

Manchester Chamber of Commerce/DDA

Due to a family commitment I was unable to attend the “brain storming session” in the Village Room so I am submitting my suggestion in letter form.

I have never interfaced with the Chamber or DDA so my suggestions have not been researched for obstacles or ramifications as I am just “throwing it out there.”

I would like to suggest that we back “Third Thursdays” to “Third Wednesdays” or “Weekly Wednesdays” thus creating a little space from the busy weekend.

As you probably can see a good share of people go out to dine & socialize on Friday nite which may make them a little reluctant to go out back-to-back nights. Also the bigger factor is not competing against Chelsea’s “Sights & Sounds” which is getting bigger and more popular every year.

I realize Grass Lake has their farmer market on Wednesday evenings but I fail to realize that would have much impact on Manchester (again I have done no research on this) also it will move our Farmers Market downtown, where it is more visible and get us off busy M-52.

As for the “Gazebo Concerts,” I’m sure their performances could be re-negotiated to Wednesday evening.

Thank You,

George Daubner
