This letter is written to the community on behalf of the Acorn Farmers Market & Café, by Laura Wohlgemuth. It is part of a series of articles submitted by the Acorn Board of Directors, to promote the Patronicity drive supporting the new market in Manchester. As of Monday morning, the drive has $30,135 pledged toward its $50,000 goal (a little over 60%).

As part of our article and letter series highlighting the benefits of Acorn Farmers' Market & Café, this week's focus is all about community.

Not only will Acorn provide a source of local, healthy food, but Acorn will also provide health education, cooking classes, marketing and production-focused classes for the farming community and a thriving community gathering place. Acorn will also host fun, family events year-round such as the upcoming Annual Corn Roast. Join us outside on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Acorn Farmers’ Market to celebrate the bounty of fresh corn and the upcoming end of our Patronicity fundraiser on September 10th! Also coming up this fall, Gayla Martin will providing free hemoglobin A1C diabetes testing on September 10 from 3-6 pm at Acorn. This test evaluates a person’s average blood glucose level over the last 2-3 months.

If we can raise the $50,000 as a community, The Patronicity Campaign will match our funds to provide us with the capital needed to create a gathering place, build a small commercial kitchen and begin hosting cooking classes, health education and much more.

Acorn Farmers’ Market & Café wants to continue growing to serve our community – the customers, farmers and other vendors. Please help secure the matching funds needed through the Patronicity Campaign and further our journeys to healthy lives and happy hearts.
