In the United States alone, COVID-19 has killed more than 300,000 people, and infected at least 15 million more, including many in our own communities. Fortunately, several vaccines have now become available to combat the virus. Nonetheless, despite assurances by the CDC and other medical experts of their safety and efficacy, and with a goal of vaccinating 80% of the population, many people, understandably, remain uneasy about getting vaccinated.

In order to address questions and concerns, one of ALI’s most popular instructors, Charlie Taylor, Ph.D. (a former Pfizer research scientist) will offer a two-day Zoom course “Update on COVID Vaccine” in the first week of January. The class, which will be presented free to formerly registered students, will allow participants to ask questions and raise their concerns. There will also be discussion of why reaching the goal of getting 80% of the U.S. population immunized is so important.

During the Winter-Spring term, Dr. Taylor will offer a more comprehensive class on the virus and the vaccines available to counter it. Look for more information on this and other classes in the ALI catalog, which will be mailed at the beginning of February.
