Obituary: Nellie Lou Kothe

Nellie Lou Kothe (June 17, 1943 - March 15, 2021)

Nellie Lou Kothe, 77, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 15, 2021 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Chelsea.  She was born on June 17, 1943 in Jackson, Michigan to Ernest and Viola (VanLanningham) Tingley. Nellie married, Nelson Kothe, on April 1, 2002, in Manchester, Michigan. She will be remembered as being an amazing seamstress.  Nellie’s greatest love was her love for birds, especially hummingbirds.  She would sit for hours waiting and watching them. Nellie also was an avid stone and antique collector.  She enjoyed taking road trips to the casino and spending as much time with her family as possible.

Nellie is survived by her husband, Nelson; her sons, Dorren (Marie) Williams of Salyersville, KY and Jon (Jennifer) Kothe of Chelsea, MI; a brother, A.J. Tingley of Idaho; eight grandchildren; great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings.
