Washtenaw County Clean Up Day

Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority is joining the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office Board of Public Works
 and Chelsea School District to host a Washtenaw County Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 24, 2021, from 8 am to 1 pm, at Washington Street Education Center Complex, 500 Washington Street, Chelsea (enter from N. Freer Rd.). The event is an opportunity for Washtenaw County residents to safely dispose of many items that cannot be recycled or disposed of through trash collection systems. Donations and scrap metal will benefit Chelsea Athletics Boosters.

Items that will be accepted include:

• Tires (on or off rims, no semi or agricultural tires, limit 10 per trip)
• Appliances (refrigerator, dryer, a/c unit, dehumidifier, etc.)
• Scrap metal
• Electronics (TV, computer, entertainment/communication devices, etc.)

Items not accepted include:

• Bulky household items (mattress, furniture, etc.)
• Construction and demolition waste (drywall, concrete, wood, bricks, etc.)
• Household garbage
• recyclable materials (glass cardboard, paper, plastic)
• styrofoam
• materials from businesses or out of county residents

While you can bring in four tires for free, they request a donation of $5 for each additional tire. You can also bring one TV, computer, or appliance for free, but they request a donation of $10 for each additional item.

Please consider a minimum donation of $15 to help support this effort.

Long wait times are expected. All vehicles in line by 1 pm will be served. Please only bring materials you can unload in 20 minutes or less. You must wear a mask and remain in your vehicle except to unload tires and scrap.
