Manchester District Library adds hoopla to digital collections

Manchester District Library patrons now have another resource for digital borrowing: hoopla Digital. This well-known public library service is offered by Midwest Tape, and provides digital checkouts using your library card.

Is MDL replacing their previous digital collection, Overdrive, with hoopla? Not at all! MDL plans to continue providing both Overdrive and hoopla, and patrons are welcome to use either as they determine which best suits their needs. Both provide digital borrowing from the comfort of home and can be used with most computers and mobile devices. Each offers a distinct and expansive catalog with unique benefits and limitations. Key features include:

• no-wait borrowing

• limit 5 loans per month

• smart TV compatible

Overdrive

• ebooks, audiobooks, and video

• holds sometimes required, wait times vary

• borrow 6 titles at a time with no monthly limit

• offers Read with Kindle App

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the MDL building remains closed to the public; however, most services — including hold pickups, personalized selections, grab-and-go bundles, small print / fax jobs, and tax forms — are available via curbside service and contact-less pickup from the front vestibule. Patrons should call (734) 428-8045 before visiting to arrange the services needed. Curbside service hours are Monday-Friday, 11AM-6PM and Saturday 10AM-2PM.
