Joan June Walkowe (May 10, 1932 - May 28, 2021)

Joan June Walkowe, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Chelsea, MI. Joan’s family and friends will gather on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Eineder Funeral Homes - Manchester Chapel (207 E. Duncan St. Manchester, MI 48158) Rosary service to follow. Joan's Funeral Services will be held at 1:30PM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Eineder Funeral Homes - Manchester Chapel; gathering to begin at 12:30PM. Fr. Bosco Padamattummal will serve as celebrant. Interment of ashes will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

She was born on May 10, 1932, in Tipton, Michigan to William and Almira (Yenor) Kirk. Joan married the love of her life, the late Joseph Walkowe, on April 11, 1959, in Manchester, Michigan. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, with a great sense of humor that loved her children and grandchildren. Joan also had a love for animals and collected many pets. She enjoyed taking day trips with her family and hanging out with her many friends. Joan was an avid Detroit Tigers fan along with old westerns, country music and reading a good book. She made amazing pizzas, and became known as “Pizza Jo”. Most people will remember her from the Village Pizza. Joan will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joan is survived by her children, Stacey Walkowe, Terry Walkowe, Bill (Anne) Walkowe, Joe Walkowe and Pat (Rhonda) Walkowe; siblings, Doreen (Gary) Brokaw and Bill (Sandy) Kirk; grandchildren Joe, Sarah, Abbie, Zach, Erin, Megan, Ellie and Nichole Walkowe; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, sister Rose Marie Kirk and brother Donald Kirk.
