One of the newest additions to the KaBOOM! equipment is a clear lucite climbing wall, located adjacent to the trail in Chi-Bro Park.

If you and your family been enjoying the new play equipment in our parks and surrounding the Shared-Use trail that passes through the village, don't miss this week's dedication and Grand Opening on Thursday at 6 pm in River Raisin Park on Ann Arbor Hill!

The new equipment, provided by a generous "Play Everywhere" grant from KaBOOM! and the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, will be celebrated and dedicated during a brief ceremony attended by local officials and Parks Commission representatives. Prizes will be provided for every kid (under 12) in attendance, plus there will also be a grand prize drawing!

The Grand Opening is a result of a nearly $80,000 investment in the community's children, including a $41,000 grant to purchase the equipment, provided by KaBOOM! and the Wilson Foundation. KaBOOM! is a national non-profit, dedicated to giving all kids the childhood they deserve through good, safe places to play. The endowment has been matched by cash and in-kind contributions of about $37,000 from the Manchester community.

The intent of the KaBOOM! Play Everywhere grant is to "inspire kids to play every day and incorporate play into their normal routines by bringing play to unexpected but everyday spaces." Pairing the grant application with the walking path helped give Manchester an edge in the process, and provides a bonus for those who frequent the trail and the parks around our town.

This new equipment will welcome people to the community, while focusing on keeping residents active and healthy year around.

A comfortable bench for taking a break is located in a shady spot next to the climbing wall
