"Manchester Tidbits," a popular feature of the MAHS, is the theme of this year's Historical Society calendar.

Over the last several months, the Manchester Area Historical Society (MAHS) has collected and published about 20 different stories of history-related "tidbits" about Manchester, and there are many more to come.

These well-researched anecdotes will help to keep you informed about the movers and shakers of Manchester long ago. From noteworthy people, to iconic businesses, to historic homes, to community news and photographs, many of these short tales have been shared widely while others are more obscure.

Learn more about the fascinating stories behind venerable photos you may have seen at the K-J House museum, on the MAHS website, or in Facebook posts. Get to know William Baxter, Dr. B. A. Parnell, and Obed Alvord. Learn the true stories of familiar names like Matilda Wilson Kingsley, Nelson Ockrow, and John Day Kief. Enjoy the legend of a portrait of two business men, found on an upstairs wall of one of the downtown buildings. And ... is there really a headless ghost in Manchester? All of this and more can be found in the "Tidbits" galore of the 2022 MAHS calendar.

Calendars are currently available for $10 apiece, at the following locations: River Raisin Mercantile, Keith’s Barber Shop, True Value Hardware, Andrews Family Chiropractic, Marti’s Salon, K-J House, Blacksmith Shop, Bridgewater Sales and Service, Fredonia Grocery, and Linda’s Diner.

This major fund-raiser has helped the MAHS to preserve the authentic history of the Manchester community since 1984. Even if you think you're completely digital, you or someone you know probably needs at least one printed calendar for 2022. Make sure that you (and they) get the MAHS "Manchester Tidbits" calendar so you'll have a documented copy of the year to come.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
