Manchester District Library (MDL) is excited to announce that Friends of the Library Book Donation Days are back starting in August. On the first Saturday of the month, Donation Days are held in the Village Room on the lower level of the Village Office building at 912 City Road from 10 am to noon. Currently, Donation Days are planned on August 7, September 4, and October 2; future events will be announced at a later date.

Donated books are used to stock the ongoing Friends of the Library Used Book Sale. Popular fiction and non-fiction books for all ages are welcome; however, the following types of material cannot be accepted: textbooks, magazines, encyclopedias, condensed books, or books that are moldy, mildewed, or damaged.

The Friends of the Library are a group of patrons dedicated to supporting MDL programs and events. The Friends‘ Used Book Sale has provided funds for the Summer Reading Program, Make-and-Take craft events, and other special community programs at the MDL. The Friends also contribute to reading programs in the Manchester Community Schools, sponsor Little Free Lending Libraries at Chi-Bro Park and Linda’s Diner, and hand out free books to trick-or-treaters at Halloween.

Most funding for Friends’ programs come from the ongoing Used Book Sale. Members of the community can support the Friends by shopping at the Used Book Sale located on both levels of the library. Anyone holding an MDL card can be a member of the Friends of the Library. There is no membership fee to join. If interested in joining, you can fill out a membership form at MDL or attend one of the open meetings held in January, May, and October. Contact the MDL for more information and meeting dates.

Manchester District Library (MDL) is proud to serve the Village of Manchester, Manchester Township, Bridgewater Township, and Freedom Township. Village of Clinton and Clinton Township residents are also eligible for MDL library cards and welcome to use all MDL resources.

Current Manchester District Library hours are Monday-Friday 11 am-6 pm and Saturday 10 am-2 pm. The most up-to-date hours and the latest news are always available on the MDL website.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
