This year, the Clinton Library staff was determined to pack a whole lot of fun and education into summer, and it paid off in a big way! Thanks to the aid of resources donated by our generous sponsors and an IMLS grant awarded by the Library of Michigan, the library was able to register 129 children and approximately 33 teens and 75 adults (based upon reading forms distributed) for this year’s Summer Reading. 2,675 individuals attended the library’s 64 programs and activities, including story times with animals, free technology classes, Thrilling Thursday enrichment programs, and a scavenger story walk in Tate Park. The level of participation in both reading and activities dwarfs that of past years at the Clinton Library since at least 2011 (statistics going back further were not evaluated).

The Clinton Library staff would like to thank all of the corporate, non-profit, and individual sponsors who supported this year’s program. We would also like to express our gratitude to all the Clinton community members who answered our calls for help, whether it was bringing in special guests for our animal story times, reading their book at Fairy Day, providing an outside space for Animal Fun day, doing a presentation on internet safety, or helping us spread the word about our activities by telling friends or sharing our social media posts.

As you might expect, the Clinton Library is not sitting on its laurels, basking in the glow of success. Look for more enriching programming in August, which we have deemed Art Month this year. We are offering weekly take-home art prompts, an interactive art exhibit called Art on the Spot, two community art murals, an exhibit of a local artist, and weekly themed chalk art murals outside the library (weather permitting). Also continuing this month are story times (Thursdays at 11:30 am), book clubs for all ages, and the quilt block of the month. Don’t miss out on all the fun! And, as always, patrons are encouraged to come to us for assistance with using technology; locating and evaluating sources of information; printing, faxing, and making copies; an, of course, finding that perfect book! Details on programs and services can be found on our website (https://www.clintontownshiplibrary.org/)and Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/CTPL.Lenawee.

Teens and adults learn how to use drawing tablets and iPads to create digital illustrations (funding provided in part by a grant from IMLS and administered by the Library of Michigan).

This baby goat just loved all the attention it received at the library's Fun with Animals event.

Thrilling Thursdays included presentations by local community members including the fire department, police department, veterinarian, and Clinton author Jennifer Carson.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
