Maygen Eiseler has had some very busy days since opening her nail salon on August 16.

The newest salon service to come to Manchester has definitely been a long-awaited indulgence.

Located on the second floor of the Comerica Bank building in the Main Street Suites, Nails with Maygen joins Beauty by Kellie Dawna's aesthetician spa and Maisano's Massage & Natural Wellness as another venue for self-care and pampering.

Maygen Eiseler, 21, is a graduate of Manchester High School, moving here from the St. Johns area when she was in eighth grade. During high school she worked with Kellie when she owned the diner on Adrian Street, and then went on to pursue her love of cosmetology at Protégé Academy of cosmetology in Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from the program in June, and passed her state board tests in early August.

"At first, when I started beauty school, I only wanted to do hair, not nails," she says. "I've always liked doing things that make people happy. Making them look good makes them happy. But then as I went through school I ended up making a total reversal ... and I decided I really wanted to do nails, and not necessarily hair."

As Kellie started her aesthetician business last year, she got plenty of questions about nail services. She contacted Maygen as she got close to completing her cosmetology studies, and they were able to come up with a mutually-agreeable plan. The suite adjacent to Kellie was available and after renting it out, Kellie's mom, Dawna Stockwell, created a sophisticated Paris-style vibe for the salon, with lots of flowers and plenty of pretty pink décor with gold accents. It's comfortable and relaxing, which is what most people look for in a nail salon.

Maygen herself has brought in her own style and personality to the business as well. She has chosen a Michigan based company, Cindi Revive, for her primary nail color, a company that has been voted the longest-lasting natural manicure system on the market. Made with non-toxic ingredients that revive, heal, repair, and protect your natural nails, the product is free of 7 harmful chemicals, and is also vegan, cruelty-free, and safe for children, pregnant women, and cancer patients.

And, speaking of safe, Maygen is fully vaccinated, double sterilizes her re-usable utensils with alcohol and UV, and sanitizes all chairs and surfaces in between clients. She also utilizes disposable files, buffers, and other items that can't be sanitized.

Since opening on August 16, she has stayed busy, and is enjoying her one-on-one time getting to know her new clients. But even when she's not in the salon she's busy doing continuing education and learning more about how to run a business. Eventually she plans to take a nail tech course in addition to her cosmetology license, so she can do additional services. She also loves being close to home and not having to fill up her car with gas so often!

Beauty by Kellie Dawna Nails with Maygen can do dip, acrylic, simple nail art, shellac, and regular manicures. She also does pedicures, which is a service Manchester has been lacking.
