WCSO: August 2021 report of police activity in the Village

During the month of August 2021 there were 153 calls for service. During this time, 82 traffic stops were made resulting in 15 citations.

Noteworthy events in Manchester Village during the month include:

On August 6, a collaboration deputy responded to the area of E. Austin and City Road for a report of a hit-and-run traffic crash. A blue flatbed pickup truck with paneling around the truck bed struck the victim's vehicle and fled south on M-52. The license plate was not obtained, and the identity of the driver remains unknown.

On August 13, a collaboration deputy responded to the 600 block of E. Duncan for a report of a subject with a firearm at the Manchester Fair. The deputy was able to track down the subject and eventually obtained a confession that a pellet gun was brought into the fair for protection if a fight were to break out. The pellet gun was also located in a trash can. Charges are being sought and the incident has been turned over to the prosecutor's office for review.

On August 17, a collaboration deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of City and Wolverine, which resulted in the arrest of the driver for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs. The driver was arrested, and the incident has been turned over to the prosecutor's office for review.

On August 18, a collaboration deputy responded to the 100 block of E. Main for a report of a delayed Malicious Destruction of Property complaint. The complainant indicated that sometime between July 3 and 12, windows to his home were broken out by unknown subjects while the residents were out of town. There were no witnesses to the incident and the suspects remain unknown.

On August 21, a Scio township deputy assisted a collaboration deputy with a disorderly subject in the 100 block of E. Main Street, who was reported to be intoxicated and disrupting patrons of local businesses.

Ordinance violations dealt with by the collaboration deputies in August included a red tag and verbal warning for overgrown grass in the 200 block of S. Washington Street (corrected); two vehicle complaints: a red tag and letter sent on the 400 block of Territorial Street (correction pending) and a verbal warning in the 800 block of E. Main Street (corrected); and a warning for an animal complaint in the 100 block of W. Main (corrected).
