Waiting in line for caramel apples at the gazebo 2018

Although Halloween festivities haven’t fully returned to pre-pandemic levels, Manchester welcomes back some of the seasonal regulars to their usual locations this year and has added some new ones!

Martinrea, located at 706 Parr Street, along with their vendors, will be hosting a Trunk or Treat from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, October 22nd. They will also be serving cider and donuts from Meckley's.

Downtown Manchester will be hosting a Witches Night Out on Saturday, October 23rd from 6 to 9 pm featuring shopping, drinking, treats and more. See Witches Night Out article for more information.

On Thursday, October 28th, teens aged 12 and up can paint pumpkins at the Manchester District Library in the teen area from 5 to 6 pm. Finished pumpkins can either be taken home or remain at the library until October 31, when they will be entered into a crowd favorite voting contest during the Halloween festivities at Wurster Park. Call (734) 428-8045 to register.

On Sunday, October 31st, village-wide trick-or-treating will run from 5 to 7 pm.

While trick-or treating is happening, the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce will be handing out free caramel apples to kids at the gazebo in Wurster Park. Nearby, the Lions Club will have pumpkin bowling. All participants will receive candy, but those who knock all the pins down in one or two tries will be put in the drawing for the HUGE stuffed animal, which will be held at the end of the night.

Join Miss Stacia and Miss Kathy near the gazebo in Wurster Park for All Hallows Read from 5 to 6 pm. Enjoy a spooky storytime, creepy craft, and a free book provided by the Friends of the Library.

The Washtenaw County Health Department recommends the following for a fun and safe Halloween: Don’t give out candy or go out if you are sick or in quarantine; wear a face mask over your mouth and nose indoors or crowded outdoor situations; wash or sanitize your hands often and before eating; stay 6-feet away from people not in your group; carry a flashlight; use glowsticks/wear reflective clothing; cross the street only at crosswalks; be mindful of passing cars; stick to sidewalks and paths; and make sure costumes are the right size to prevent trips and falls.
