The National Institutes of Health say that falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries in people 65 and older. The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) is hosting another A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falls workshop online to help older adults prevent falls and reduce the fear of falling. This workshop can help you:

-Safely increase your physical activity level
-Learn practical strategies to manage falls
-Make changes at home to reduce falls
-Improve balance and flexibility

The eight-week workshop meets weekly over Zoom. The classes require a computer or other device with internet access and a camera. A meeting link will be sent to registered participants. There is no cost to participate in the workshop, but donations are always welcome.

Any adult 65 and older in Michigan can join the workshop. An information session will be held from 3-4 pm on Monday, October 25; followed by eight sessions from 3-5 pm November 1-29 and December 6-20.

To register or for more information, call LaShawn Griffin at 800-482-1455 or email lgriffin@nkfm.org. To learn more about A Matter of Balance, visit www.nkfm.org/matterofbalance.
