James Lyos, Sept. 25, 1934 - Oct. 30, 2021

James T. Lyos, 87, of Manchester, passed away peacefully, October 30, 2021, with his loving family by his side at Evangelical Home, Saline, MI. Jim’s family and friends will gather Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 5 – 8 pm at Eineder Funeral Homes - Manchester Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.

His funeral service will be held Friday, November 5, 2021, at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (3109 Scio Church Rd) Ann Arbor, MI at 10:30 am with visitation from 9:00 am – 10:30 am. Fr. Nicolaos H. Kotsis will serve as celebrant. The interment will follow on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:30 pm at Grand Lawn Cemetery, (23501 Grand River Ave) Detroit, Michigan.

He was born on September 25, 1934, in Kalamata, Greece to Thomas and Penelope (Vasalakis) Lyos. He will be remembered as truly experiencing the American Dream. His family immigrated to the United States in 1948 and he attended high school in Detroit Michigan, where he graduated. He enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He was an entrepreneur and founded many successful restaurants, owning and operating four locations at the time of his retirement. Jim enjoyed a large family of 10 children, 3 stepchildren, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandkids, along with numerous exchange students who passed through his life and many cherished employees.

Jim is survived by his wife Ann Marie; his children, Andy (Anais) Lyos of Houston, TX; Nicole (Paul) Haddix of KY; Chris (Natalia) Lyos of South Korea; Steven (Jill) Lyos of Manchester, MI; Alison (Bill) Prielipp of Blissfield, MI; Craig (Karen) Lyos of Ypsilanti, MI; Kim (Scott) Ford of Manitou Beach, MI: Nick (Stephanie) Lyos of Manchester, MI; James (Sara) Bradley of Pinckney, MI; Robin Bradley (Rashaan Hazard) of Auburn, MA; Jessica Bradley (David Kamara) of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren Alexander, Nicholas and Sebastian Lyos; Samantha and Clinton Haddix; William and Nicholas Lyos; Zachary, Victoria, Jason and Katelyn Prielipp; Rylee and Sean Lyos; Brendan Ford and Brooklynn Lyos; Amalya, Alani and Adara Bradley-Hazard; Bridgette, Elizabeth, Katherine and Gabrielle Kamara; and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Dianne Lyos and Catherine Lyos, a sister, Maria Lyos, and two grandchildren.
