Something my daughter, Allison, wrote about the Olympics:

I love the Australians. There’s the commentator for the Olympics for Skeleton and he is awesome — he gets so excited. Whenever I hear an Australian, they all sound like Crocodile Dundee but they can all make the most mundane things sound super-exciting. They can make a guy spreading peanut butter on toast sound like he’s about to win the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup, and the World Series all at once.

“There’s Mike — he’s about to blow his nose. Crikey — look at that incredible grip he’s got on that tissue! I’ve never seen anything like it! Now watch the amount of force he expels his snot with! This is completely mind-boggling!!!! That is a gold-medal performance right there, mate!”

I want an Australian to give me a pep-talk every morning. Imagine all the things I could get done …
