Manchester District Library (MDL) will offer a variety of events and activities for all ages during March.

Tournament of Books
March 1-31
Celebrate National Reading Month with a March Madness style Tournament of Books! Our most popular Young Adult, Tween, and Juvenile books are on the ballot, and your votes will decide the winner! Find out how to vote and win prizes on the MDL Event Calendar.

MDL Board of Trustees Meeting
Thursday, March 3 | 7 pm | Village Council Chambers
The MDL Board of Trustees is an all-volunteer governing body made up of two members from each of the library’s participating service areas: Manchester Village, Manchester Township, Bridgewater Township, and Freedom Township. Trustees create and oversee library policies, administer the budget, and set the strategic plan. Members of the public are welcome to attend the monthly meetings.

Encanto Party
Saturday, March 5 | 11:15 am | Village Room
Watch the movie, eat some popcorn, and enjoy character-themed craft stations. Recommended for all ages.

ArtStart: Mini Art Show
March 8-22
Calling young artists for our mini art show, and we mean MINI! Register and pick up a mini canvas kit to participate starting Tuesday, March 8. Complete and return by Tuesday, March 22 to have your stupendous creation displayed in the library’s April Art Show. Recommended for ages 8-18; registration required.

Marbled Shaving Cream Art
Tuesday, March 15 | 5 pm | MDL Teen Spot
Make cool marbled shaving cream art with Miss Stacia. Recommended for ages 12-18.

Adult Book Club
Wednesday, March 16 | 6 pm | Village Room + Zoom
Discuss Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know About the People We Don’t Know by Malcolm Gladwell. Copies of the book and the complete 2021-2022 reading list are both available now and can be picked up on-demand from the library. Email request@manchesterlibrary.info to learn about joining virtually.

St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt
Thursday, March 17 | 4 pm | MDL Youth Area
Join Ms Kate for a St. Patrick's Day themed scavenger hunt and craft time. Be sure to wear something green! Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Wizards, Wands, & Potions with Sloan Museum
Tuesday, March 29 | 1 pm | MDL Youth Area
Step into another world full of wizards and witches. Cauldrons will bubble and potions will change color. Is it magic or chemistry? Build your own light-up wand and squish your fingers into ghost brains. Recommended for ages 7-13; registration required.

Crafternoon
Wednesday, March 30 | 1 pm | MDL Youth Area
Drop by the library for an afternoon of stories, crafting, creating, and fun with Ms Kate. Recommended for ages 5 and up.


RECURRING PROGRAMS

Family Story Time
Weekly on Tuesdays | 11:15 am | MDL Youth Area
Join Miss Stacia for stories, songs, and activities. Recommended for ages 3 to 8.

Tech Help Desk
Weekly on Thursdays except March 31 | noon-3 pm | by appointment
Get hands-on help with technology of all kinds with a 30-minute help desk session, available by appointment. Bring your own device or use one of the library’s computers and get assistance with hardware, software, apps, online accounts, and more. Call (734) 428-8045 or email request@manchesterlibrary.info to schedule an appointment. Limit 2 people per appointment; masks are required.

NEW Maker Night
Monthly on the 2nd and 4th Thursday | 6:30 pm | Village Room
Makers in all mediums are invited to bring their latest project and get inspiration from other participants. This is a great opportunity for beginners to get help from experienced practitioners or for small groups to work together on creative interests. At this time, participants are requested to wear masks at these events to protect vulnerable members of our community.

NEW Kid Bingo!
Weekly on Fridays, March 4-18 | 4 pm | MDL Teen Spot
Drop in and play after school bingo with Ms Angela for candy and prizes. Recommended for ages 7-11.


Manchester District Library (MDL) is proud to serve the Village of Manchester, Manchester Township, Bridgewater Township, and Freedom Township. Village of Clinton and Clinton Township residents are also eligible for MDL library cards and welcome to use all MDL resources.

Beginning on March 1, Manchester District Library hours will change to Monday-Wednesday 10 am-8 pm, Thursday-Friday 10 am-6 pm, and Saturday 10 am-2 pm. The most up-to-date hours and the latest news are always available on the MDL website.
