League of Women Voters present Juvenile Justice study group

submitted by League of Women Voters of Washtenaw County
The public is invited to join a Juvenile Justice presentation by Carolyn Madden, (LWV-WC Board, and Friends of Restorative Justice), and Mary Lynn Stevens (Friends of Restorative Justice, and Safe & Just MI) for a discussion of restorative justice.
This presentation of restorative justice will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 9 am via zoom. You must Pre Register to receive a link to the meeting.
Across the US, Restorative Justice is used to provide healing and reduce conflict in elementary and high schools; with youth and adults, Restorative Justice is an alternative to the traditional criminal legal system. Washtenaw County has been involved in peacemaking circles for the juvenile court. In the past year, the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office, with the Dispute Resolution Center, has begun to provide a survivor-centered Restorative Justice Program.
This study group is interested in juvenile justice in particular but we would like a better understanding of restorative justice in general. We welcome you to join us April 6, at 9:00, then the first Wednesday of each month, at 9:00 for other youth justice issues.
