Obituary: Joyce M. Stein

Joyce M. Stein (December 30, 1926 - April 4, 2022)

Joyce M. Stein, 95, passed away peacefully in Ann Arbor, MI on April 4, 2022. She was born December 30, 1926 Detroit, MI, the daughter of Basil and Mary (Martin) Lentz, and spent most of her life in Manchester. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Theresa Lentz, brothers Ambrose and Martin “Leo” Lentz, first husband William Westfall in 1957, and second husband Richard Stein in 2007. Survivors include her four children:  Carol Westfall (Lon Nordeen), David (Pat) Westfall, Susan Westfall Holloway (Steve), and Kristin Stein- Osentoski; four grandchildren:  David Holloway, Jonathan Holloway, Avery (Lauren) Osentoski, and Maria Osentoski; and beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Joyce was an active member of St. Mary’s Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Manchester. She lived a loving, faith-filled life and was happiest when with family and friends or serving others. Shortly after high school graduation she felt called to serve her country and worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Her long and healthy life can be attributed to good genes, a quick wit, and an “I can do that” attitude. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to Joyce’s wonderful in-home caregivers, Birchwood Gardens caregivers, and Elara Caring Hospice. 

Cremation has taken place.  Joyce’s family and friends will gather Monday, April 11, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Rosary at 7:30 PM at Eineder Funeral Homes - Manchester Chapel. On Tuesday, April 12, 2022 the family will gather at 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 210 W. Main St. Manchester.  Burial of Ashes to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Father Bosco Padamattummal will serve as celebrant.
