Come to the Gazebo this Thursday at 7pm for an amazing night of music with Joe Reilly. Bring the kids along — they will love it!

Gazebo Concerts have been a staple of Manchester’s summer entertainment scene since 1989. Even in the summer of 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Riverfolk Music and Arts Organization provided Thursday night concerts on YouTube to bring new as well as familiar artists into our living rooms.

Join us on Thursday nights in person again this summer at the Wurster Park Gazebo! Our first concert will be Joe Reilly, who has been to Manchester many times before — most recently on May 28 to bring his “music from the heart for people of all ages“ to Klager and Riverside students at the Manchester Jr/Sr High School auditorium. Thanks to Michigan Humanities for a grant and the MCS PTO for a generous donation that helps support this concert.

Do you love music and nature? So does Joe Reilly! Joe loves nature so much that he writes songs and sings about it, and he hopes that you and your family will sing along, too. And don’t just sing along — get up and move! Dance! Allow yourself to become the animals, plants, and water in the songs. Hop like a frog, flap your wings like a turkey vulture, or make a face like a dinosaur!

On a musical journey of faith and spirit, Joe’s songs touch deep reserves of compassion and joy within the hearts of all of his listeners, giving encouragement to others on the spiritual path and using music as a universal voice of communication and celebration beyond lines of religion.

Come and enjoy this diverse and easy-to-listen-to musician as he enchants the Gazebo audience this Thursday, June 9 at 7pm. Joe’s performance begins half an hour earlier than the rest of the gazebo concert series, and will conclude by 8:45 p.m. so parents can get their kiddos home to bed for their last day of school on Friday.

The remainder of this season will include a great line-up of music from many longtime Gazebo Concert favorites. The Palooka Brothers Stringband (June 23, 7:30pm); a 10-piece group from the Dodworth Saxhorn Band (June 30, 7:30pm); The Royal Garden Trio (July 7, 7:30pm); Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic (July 14, 7:30pm); Aaron Jonah Lewis and his Ragtime Orchestra (July 28, 7:30pm); and Billy King and Emily Slomovitz (August 4, 7:30pm). Don’t miss any of these terrific performers!

The Gazebo Concert series is funded in part by generous donations from several area businesses, organizations, and individuals, but also by the free-will donations accepted during intermission of each concert. In addition, if you would like to make a donation to help fund the concert series, you may send a check payable to Riverfolk, noting that the donation is for Gazebo Concerts, to: Gazebo Concerts, PO Box 146, Manchester, Michigan 48158.
