Marsh marigolds are one of many colorful wildflowers growing in Washtenaw nature preserves

Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation will be hosting two nature hikes in Clark & Avis Spike Preserve located at 18700 Grass Lake Rd in Sharon Township on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Both hikes will be led by naturalist Elle Bogle.

The first hike is a Sunrise Nature Hike from 8:30to10am. As spring moves into summer, plant and animal life is exploding. The next wave has flowers blooming, eggs hatching, and turtles mating. Immerse yourself in the sumptuous summer beauty during this morning hike along the wetland boardwalks and open fields. Pre-registration required by emailing boglee@washtenaw.org.

After the sunrise hike, Bogle will be leading Rainbow Connection, a family nature program from 11am to 12:30pm. Summer is a season seemingly painted with all the colors in the palette box. In this whimsical hike, discover plants of every shade of the rainbow, learn about their differences, and gather a beautiful bouquet of flowers to take home. Pre-registration is required and anyone over the age of 2 must register. To register your child, visit parksonline.ewashtenaw.org. Registration #841002.
